Potrait of a White-eared Bulbul (Pycnonotus leucotis)   2 comments

Potrait of a White-eared Bulbul (Pycnonotus leucotis)

It was my first visit to the Keoladeo Ghana Bird Sanctuary and I was indeed looking forward to it as I had heard many a wonderful stories about it. As I entered the park I came across this bulbul. With this bird willing to pose and with good lighting conditions, I got this picture. As I moved on from this bird my only prayer was that the other birds should also oblige and I wasn’t disappointed by the end of the day. Bhartpur is indeed a bird watchers’ paradise.

Coming back to the bird, the white eared bulbul is very much like the white cheeked bulbul, except that it lacks the crest of the latter. Also, the white -eared bulbul has a larger white patch than the largely Himalayan white cheeked Bulbul. These birds are found primarily in Middle eastern Asia, India and Pakistan.

Wishing everyone a very happy Diwali
