Framing a Pelican (Pelecanus philippensis)

The weather in Bangalore has been absolutely pleasant, the whole of last week, but the promise of monsoon showers has still eluded us.
So with some trepidation, I ventured out with my camera to the KR Puram Lake. I had never been there before but the overcast sky was threatening to let lose a downpour any moment. Luckily, the heavens didn’t open up while I was out in the open.

I managed to get close to a group of spot billed pelicans also called the grey pelicans. These are a relatively smaller pelicans and a lot quieter too. The boatman did a great job of silently taking the boat near a tree, where a group of these lovely birds were perched, and this flying pelican was my reward.

But it was indeed sad to see untreated sewage water being released into this large lake that was home to this near threatened species.
