Portrait of a pregnant Gray Langur (Semnopithecus)

Also know as the Hanuman langurs, these animals are quite a common sight across India. However, the poise of this female struck me. She was sitting by herself, a little away from the rest of the troops, in what is essentially a tiger and leopard infested forest.

Alarm calls from langurs are one of the surest indicators of the presence of predators in an area and puts most of the prey animals on their guard. However, in this state this female was definitely vulnerable. Luckily for her there were no alarm calls that evening.
