Indian Roller (Coracias benghalensis)

Unfortunately, I have to repost this. My attempts at changing the picture lead to more complications than I had anticipated. So much for my technical know how.
The Indian Roller, also called the Blue Jay, is the state bird of the Indian state of Odisha, which is my home state. It is a very colourful bird and some of its colours especially the indigo feathers are visible usually during flight. The brown breast differentiates the Indian Roller from the Eurasian Roller, which has a bluish one.

They love to perch themselves on wires along the roadside – so much so that I eventually gave up my endeavour to click them without having the wire in the frame.
It is a bird that is known for its acrobatic skills and in the olden times, captive Rollers were released by local rulers to mark the beginning of Durga Puja festivities.
