Brahminy Kite (Haliastur indus) – A bird steeped in mythology   1 comment

 Brahminy Kite (Haliastur indus)

I have been attempting to click these birds for some time but never really managed to get a satisfactory photo till now. As is evident from the photo, it was a searing hot day and I had stopped the car by the roadside to click this picture. Luckily, pictures can’t replay the yells of my family – requesting as well as threatening me to get back into the car 🙂

In India the Brahminy kite is considered the contemporary representation of Garuda, the sacred vehicle of God Vishnu.
